Seplat Energy Begins Scheduled Maintenance at Major Gas Plant; Potential Impact on Power Supply

Seplat Energy Plc, a partner in a Joint Venture with NNPC Ltd and a key provider of natural gas to the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC) pipeline system, has initiated a planned maintenance operation on its gas production facilities from February 12 to February 15, 2026.

This maintenance is part of routine procedures focused on upholding safety, reliability, and the integrity of assets to ensure the consistent performance of crucial gas infrastructure. Regular maintenance like this is vital for maintaining operational efficiency, strengthening system resilience, and minimizing the chances of unexpected outages in the gas-to-power sector.

Throughout this four-day maintenance period, there will be a temporary reduction in gas volumes supplied to the NGIC pipeline network. As a result, some power generation companies (GenCos) relying on this gas supply may face decreased availability, which could lead to a slight drop in electricity generation during this timeframe.

Major gas plant maintenance begins by Seplat Energy, to affects power supply

Seplat Energy and NNPC Ltd are working closely together to ensure the maintenance work is carried out safely and on schedule. Additionally, NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML) is seeking alternative gas suppliers to help mitigate any supply shortages and lessen the impact on downstream customers.

Once the maintenance is finished, gas supply to the NGIC system is expected to resume quickly, allowing affected generation companies to return to their usual operational levels.
