Power Restored to Seven Northern States as TCN Repairs Key Transmission Line
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced Wednesday evening that it has restored power to seven northern states after successfully repairing the 330kV Ugwuaji-Apir Transmission Line 1.
TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, confirmed that repairs were completed at 4:56 p.m. on Wednesday.
“With this line restored, the Apir-Lafia 330kV transmission line 2 is now active,” she said. “Bulk power transmission has also been resumed for Lafia, Makurdi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, and Gombe states. Our engineering team is now preparing to start work on the second 330kV transmission line to fully stabilise the power supply.”
Mbah noted that all necessary materials for the repairs are ready, and work will commence as soon as the site is secure to ensure the safety of TCN personnel. “Meanwhile, our teams will continue patrolling the 330kV Line 2 to check for any additional damage as repairs continue. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as our engineers work tirelessly to restore the line,” she added.
Fifteen northern states had lost power due to recent attacks by bandits on the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission lines and vandalism of the Ugwuaji-Apir Transmission lines. TCN reaffirmed its commitment to restoring stable electricity supply and thanked affected residents for their support during this challenging period.
