NNPC Remits ₦10trn, Tops Taxpayer Rankings in Nigeria – Kyari
NNPC, First E&P Commence Crude Oil Production at OML 85
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) and its Joint Venture partner, First Exploration and Petroleum Development Company Limited (First E&P), have started oil production from OML 85, also known as Madu Field.
The field, situated in shallow waters offshore Bayelsa State and operated by First E&P, is anticipated to produce an average of 20,000 barrels per day.
Mele Kyari, NNPC Ltd’s Group CEO, hailed the commencement of oil production at Madu Field as a significant achievement towards meeting production targets to drive revenue growth and enhance the nation’s economy.
Kyari credited the milestone to President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to optimizing production from Nigeria’s oil and gas assets by fostering an enabling environment for investors.
He expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their support, citing the addition of 20,000 barrels per day by an indigenous oil player as a sign of stakeholders’ dedication to Nigeria’s economic development.
The final investment decision (FID) for developing Madu Field and its sister field, Anyala, was made by the NNPC Ltd/First E&P JV in 2018.
Ademola Adeyemi-Bero, Managing Director of FIRST E&P, emphasized that this achievement underscores the company’s dedication to delivering value to stakeholders while addressing the nation’s energy needs.
Taliking about the significance of the development, Adeyemi-Bero stated: “Achieving production from the Madu Field is a milestone event and an integral part of our long-term strategy. With this, we have further demonstrated that FIRST E&P is committed to delivering sustained growth and impact in the dynamic energy landscape.
“We remain steadfast in our pursuit of operational excellence and look forward to contributing even more to the prosperity of the communities in which we operate and to the nation.”
