Iran rejected Chinese military defense offer
Some time ago, the Chinese government offered to help Iran build its air defenses. The Tehran authorities rejected this offer.

In a further snub to China, Iran turned over port management for Chabahar in southeastern Iran to India, instead of Chinese companies. Chabahar is close to the Pakistan port of Guadar on the Indian ocean, and this action was seen by the Chinese as a firm rejection of Chinese help.
Following the June 13 decapitation attacks and assassinations made on Iran by Israel, the Iranian authorities found that many agents in Iran working for Israeli intelligence were Indians living and working in Iran, and who were fluent in Farsi.
Another group which provided information to western intelligence agents were Pashtun refugees from Afghanistan. Most of them had formerly worked for the pro-US Afghan government until August 2021, when the Taliban took over. Out of fear of the Taliban, they fled to Iran. In Iran, they were unable to find full-time jobs because of employment laws, which made them angry at the Iranian government. Some of them ended up in security-related jobs; these individuals were willing to work for cash offered by the Israelis. There are approximately 2.5M of these refugees in Iran.
Obviously, the Iranian government has not done a good job in security, and needs to take a much closer look at plugging their security holes, and reviewing their India relationship.
This kind of security hole would not likely happen in China, because there is facial recognition and gait recognition of everyone, which can be easily captured in all public places. When it comes to financial transactions and payments, there are only two domestic companies which handle digital payments: Alibaba and Tencent.
All of the major banks are state-owned, and Chinese security services can search records and flag unusual activity at anytime. Because of the very tense international environment with the west, this is something they are already certainly doing, especially with Chinese who regularly deal with western businesses, and socialize with westerners.
It looks like Iran does not have this kind of security protection and warning system in place. What were they thinking and doing?
Iran is in a very tough neighborhood, and if it is going to survive, it has to make smarter policy decisions and manage security better.
Otherwise it will end up like Lebanon, Syria and Libya, except on a much larger scale
