DisCos generated a total of N207 billion from electricity bills in December – NERC

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has reported that electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) collected a total of N207.49 billion from customers in December 2025.
This information is detailed in the December commercial performance factsheet released on their website in Abuja. During December, the 11 electricity distribution companies billed consumers N258.66 billion.
The report highlights that while this amount was billed, only N207.49 billion was collected, resulting in a revenue shortfall of N51.17 billion. This indicates a collection efficiency of 80.22% across all companies using the national grid.
The report further reveals that the utilities received electricity valued at N309.65 billion from the National Grid in December.
However, they successfully billed N258.66 billion of the supplied energy, which reflects a billing efficiency of 83.53%.
Importantly, the average revenue achieved by DisCos was N98.97 per kilowatt hour, compared to the allowed average tariff of N124.30 per kilowatt hour. This highlights a revenue recovery efficiency of 79.62% for the industry.
Breaking it down by company, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company led with the highest revenue collection, bringing in N38.11 billion from a billed amount of N46.68 billion, achieving an efficiency of 81.64%.
Following closely, Ikeja Electric collected N36.20 billion from N43.41 billion billed, marking a collection efficiency of 83.38%.
Eko Electricity Distribution Company also performed well, realizing N38.01 billion from N41.41 billion billed, which translates to a collection efficiency of 91.79%.
Other companies included Benin Electricity Distribution Company, which collected N18.38 billion from N21.53 billion billed, and Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, which recovered N17.62 billion out of N21.6 billion billed.
Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company generated N23.60 billion from N28.34 billion billed, while Enugu Electricity Distribution Company realized N17.57 billion from N23.08 billion billed during this period.
Lastly, Kano Electricity Distribution Company reported a collection of N8.98 billion from a billed amount of N15.64 billion, translating to a collection efficiency of 57.45%.
Yola Electricity Distribution Company added N3.55 billion to their revenues from N4.25 billion billed.
