Exmay 2006 Set Unveils Landmark 20th Anniversary Project for Mayflower at 70

Commissioned by Ogun State First Lady and MOSA

On January 24, 2026, the ExMay Class of 2006 from the prestigious Mayflower School, Ikenne, celebrated two decades of post-secondary achievements by commissioning the newly renovated and interlocked Administrative Block.

This dual celebration marked a milestone for the class while contributing to the ongoing legacy of the institution. The renovation, which included detailed painting and structural enhancements, was aimed at revitalizing the central nerve of the school.

As one of 14 diverse projects launched to commemorate Mayflower School’s 70th Anniversary, this initiative highlighted a significant reinvestment effort by the school’s alumni network, the ExMays. The commissioning ceremony was graced by the First Lady of Ogun State, Her Excellency Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, along with key members of the National Executive Committee of the Mayflower Old Students Association (MOSA), led by Omooba Wale Abdul.

‘A Vision for the Next Generation’

The Class of 2006 specifically focused on upgrading the administrative building, often referred to as the “engine room” of the school. Their goal was to enhance the professional environment for both faculty and students. Through modernized aesthetics and newly installed interlocked flooring, their efforts reaffirmed the school’s legacy of excellence and commitment to progress.

During her remarks, Mrs. Abiodun expressed her admiration for the class’s efforts. She commended their generosity and dedication to giving back to their alma mater. She noted the noble spirit of remembering and contributing to their roots, describing it as a remarkable act of altruism.

”Honoring the Solarin Legacy”

Tributes for the Class of 2006 poured in, including heartfelt gratitude from Corin Solarin, daughter of the school’s esteemed founder, Tai Solarin. She praised their outstanding initiative and expressed eagerness to witness further contributions from them in the future.

”A Testament to Unity”

The successful completion of this project serves as a testament to the collaborative spirit and shared vision of the ExMay 2006 community, led by Ibrahim Yusuf alongside Anniversary Committee leader, Ore Obasa.

Speaking on behalf of their team, Yusuf underscored their motivation behind the initiative, emphasizing a desire to foster an environment that inspires learning and pride. Obasa echoed these sentiments, stressing that an institution’s infrastructure should mirror the brilliance of its students and staff.

As Mayflower School marks 70 years under its guiding principle of “Knowledge is Light,” this transformative contribution from the Class of 2006 stands as a beacon of social responsibility and unity. It serves as a resounding call for all ExMays worldwide to carry forward the enduring legacy of Tai Solarin by investing in education and community development for generations to come.
